Frequently asked questions
Why Bonus Bundles?
Bonus Bundles include newly-requested supplies, as well as hard-to-find pricier items, that FGT is committed to providing to every student recipient. Our purchasing power (through long-term vendor relationships) allows us to buy in bulk quantities at wholesale prices. Your donation will help us directly offset this cost.
What's the difference between a Bonus Bundle and a Health and Hydration Pack?
Health & Hydration Packs can be used by any grade level and only include an 18 oz. BPA-free water bottle, toothbrush, toothpaste, floss, and a tissue pack. Bonus Bundles include all the items in the H&H Pack in addition to grade-specific supplies. For Grades 3-5: Multiplication/Division Flashcards. For Grades K-2: Addition/Subtraction Flashcards and over-the-ear headphones.
Why is FGT adding new supplies?
FGT annually surveys the partner schools and agencies who distribute the supply-filled backpacks we help provide. In our most recent survey, we found that students need new hydration and oral hygiene supplies, as well as a few we’ve always provided but have become harder to find and much more expensive to purchase at retail.
What is the Back-to-School Drive?
Each August, the Back to School Drive provides new school supply-filled backpacks to K-12 students in the greater San Francisco Bay Area. Since 1995, the program has provided over 508,839 students from low-income families with backpacks filled with much-needed, grade-appropriate school supplies. The students we serve qualify for the federal (Title 1) Free or Reduced Price Meal program. Over 600,000 students are enrolled in this program annually in the fourteen counties we serve with backpacks.
